We know that as an adult, braces are out of the question. Aside from the discomfort, most adults prefer clear braces
over brackets.
The advantages of Invisalign over traditional braces can be seen in the table below:

| • Better oral hygiene. It is very easy to take proper care of your mouth during treatment b/c invisalign aligners are removable. | • During treatment you have to use special tools to floss your teeth b/c of metal wires. You can not brush your teeth properly b/c of brackets and wires. |

| • If you have missing tooth/teeth, in the front for example, and not enough space to do the final restoration (veneer or crown), you can use the aligner to place a fake tooth in the missing spot and do final restoration after Invisalign treatment is completed. |
As a teenager I was always self conscious about my teeth and would barely smile. I grew up with a fear of the dentist and would only go if absolutely necessary, so braces were out of the question. In school I was taunted about my teeth because I had an extreme overbite and a space between my teeth. My lack of smiling caused people to view me as unfriendly and I was perceived as so. The fact that I was insecure about my teeth caused me to talk as least as possible because that would mean I would have to open my mouth. I always said if I could fix one thing about myself it would be my teeth in a heartbeat.
When I learned about Invisalign in my mid twenties I knew this would be the perfect solution. I could never picture myself with metal brackets on my teeth or the discomfort associated with it. The day I got Invisalign I was extremely excited because I saw what the end results would be on the clinical check and could not wait to get started. I was shocked at how easy and manageable the treatment was. No one could tell I had them on, even though I told everyone because I was so proud that I was finally getting my teeth fixed. Once I was finished I couldn’t believe I had the smile I always envied and dreamed about.
Now people always tell me how beautiful my smile is and I have to think about it before I say thank you because I am not used to hearing it. Since finishing the treatment I have become much more outgoing and social and I can smile without being self conscious.
